Game, set and victory with waterdrop® at the ATP tournaments.
The Viennese start-up set out to revolutionize water drinking back in 2016.
Well, maybe not drinking, but using drinking water with tasty drink cubes and with high-quality glass or stainless steel bottles – instead of plastic.
Eight years and several rounds of investors later, waterdrop® is the official hydration and bottle partner of the ATP tournaments. The company has greatly expanded its focus on sports, particularly tennis, over the years. Superstar Novak Djokovic has become an investor in waterdrop®, and other athletes from a wide range of disciplines have also been won over to the brand and its mission to promote sustainable water consumption.
What motivated the founders of waterdrop®?
No sugar, less plastic
Martin Murray, Henry Murray and Christoph Hermann have been pursuing exactly this mission since waterdrop® was founded. The goal? Make sugary drinks and plastic bottles obsolete. The microdrinks save up to 98% plastic and CO2 compared to drinks in 500ml plastic bottles. This not only does good things for the health and the planet, but also revolutionizes the beverage market.
The start of this year’s BOSS OPEN 2024 fittingly coincided with World Oceans Day. It is a declared goal to make the event single-use plastic-free.
waterdrop® was one of the most important partners.
To this end, waterdrop® not only provided the tennis aces and employees with drinking bottles specially designed for the ATP tournaments, but also provided the visitors with free drinking water. All of these measures served to transform the lawn tournament at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof into an event without plastic bottles and to motivate people to drink more water and thus live healthier, longer and more sustainably. The products, including dissolvable microdrink cubes in fruity and refreshing flavors, reusable water bottles and DrinkTech smart products, are designed to eliminate plastic waste and reduce sugar consumption. To date, waterdrop® innovations have prevented up to 30 million plastic bottles from entering circulation.
At the BOSS OPEN, innovative players’ benches with an integrated range of drinks were also used.
We are pleased that waterdrop® has chosen the modulbox, an equally sustainable outdoor stand system, for the ATP tournaments in Germany. An existing modul box will be equipped with the branding for waterdrop® for this season and can easily be used at events as a contact point, storage and meeting place. Since waterdrop® stands for high standards of design, functionality and aesthetics, the modulbox is a perfect match.
Longevity and reusability impress prospective customers and customers alike.
waterdrop® was also onsite with the modulbox at the Tennis ATP men’s tournament in Hamburg.
